I’ve been ready a few personal financial blogs and got inspired to create this Blog. I’ve done some things right and obviously some things wrong. In all the sites I have read, the theme seams to be, 1) live below your means 2) dont use debt 3) invest the rest to reach financial independence.
I thought I share my journey of how I was able to reach Financial Independence at a young age (age 26 before I got married, 33 when I got married – definitely will need to post about this later) because I was able to achieve tremendous IRR on my investments. A penny doubled 32 times gets you to 1 Million dollars. I think we all can start off with more than a penny.
Hoping to meet a ton of interesting people. so dont be shy in contacting me. investlike1percent AT gmail DOTCOM
I will mostly blog on weekends or during other downtimes. I am hoping my daughter can read this blog someday when her old man is long gone and learn a thing or two. PS – love you, K….
Good luck! I am excited to read about your path to FI. Reaching financial independence by 26 without selling drugs is remarkable.
FI was because my expenses were so low. thats why i lost FI when i go married, haha… had to wait a few more years to get FI.
how crucial are you to your employer? i would totally do something that would lock you in and give you more of the company
I could play hardball and get half of the company, but to be honest, I do not want to do this job for another 15-20 years even if that meant being a multimillionaire by the time I am 60. I would rather live more modestly and enjoy life more. I am sure that fact that I recently turned 40 and had a first child couple of years ago has a lot to do with that desire (middle-age crisis perhaps).
With current earnings and savings ratio, I can reach modest FI in 8-10 years, or I can keep working 80 hours per week and make my kids reach FI without work. I love my son, but I am not doing this extremely tough job for another 20 years.
if you were more of an owner, could you hire help so you dont have to work the crazy hours.
my daughter is 3, i totally get the life style balance. i am 36 so right there with you in age.
Indeed, I already delegated some of the work so I am now working only 60 hours per week, but more delegating I do, less profits I make which would then extend the time I would need to buy out my boss. So, I may have to work until I am 80
